I finally got to scan my photography folio for this term. So, finally, I get to post a few of my pictures up on the Intarwebz. I couldn’t scan all of them, because there are so many, so I just chose my favourites :). I took them all with my darling SLR, Rufus! (You can see a picture of his model here)
The main theme for these photos was city/urban living. They were all taken in the CBD, and the photos are about half the size of an A4 piece of paper. Rufus is a traditional SLR, I used black and white film, and printed them all on silver gelatin.
(The above was just for my own reference)
I felt slightly nostalgic as I uploaded these. I mean, I won’t be doing photography next year! But I will still have my SLR ♥. There will be no way in Hell for me to photograph and paint at the same time, it would just be too much work. However, on the upside, I really really adore painting. I love it more than photography! I guess I just wanted to try something new this year, and something that was a bit more challenging. Not that painting is easier than photography, it’s just that I’ve been doing painting for a very long time, so I know what looks good and I’ve been taught colour theory. So, with black and white photography, there would be no need to use colour theory, for obvious reasons.
Anyway! Onto the photos. (They are quite large, for those with slower connections)
For the last one, I put a really scuffed up piece of acetate on top of it before I printed it, so that explains the scratches. So, they are intentional! I wanted something sort of dirty looking, with that mood. You know what I mean. Including the person in the shot was entirely intentional, too, as it would have no comparison whatsoever.
You know, sometimes I wonder about some of the keys on a computer keyboard. Scroll lock, for instance. Who would need scroll lock? Has anyone ever actually used scroll lock? I mean, someone must have been scrolling all over the place, and got totally out of control and got scared of their uncontrollable scrolling, so they invented scroll lock. I, for one, have never uttered the phrase “Thank God for scroll lock! Good thing someone invented that key,”.
On the other hand, there are some Internet things that I can’t imagine functioning without: Mozilla Firefox. GMail. Google. Actually, did you know that there is a Church Of Google? Forget agnosticism, I’m a Google Follower now XD!
Found on the arguments page:
So, if Google told you to go jump off a bridge, would you do it?
If someone told you that after you die, you’re going to live ‘forever’ in peace and harmony in the sky, would you believe them?
*cracks up*
I probably found that a bit too gut-bustlingly hilarious for it to be false. “BEHOLD, FOR SHE INDEXES OVER 9.5 BILLION WEB PAGES!”
Ooh, and this is interesting: How many times the terms ‘google’ and ‘god’ are searched in Google in comparison to each other.
What sites/services on the Internet could you not imagine functioning without?

those photographs are really good.i totally suck at taking pictures
Brilliant pictures, I loved looking at them :)
I am also a huge google fan, search engine, page ranker, gmail, youtube etc - all essential tools! But I also couldn’t live without cashback web sites!
That Church of Google website sounds hilarious, especially the quote you posted. I don’t particularly like Google, though.
Good luck with your classes next year! Your photos look good. I’m glad you got to take the classes - I’m hoping someday I’ll take photography classes.
I love photography. Your pictures are awesome ! I took photography my Senior year and we didn’t even do what the class is suppose to do which was photograph. All we mostly did was sit on the computer and learned about the function of the camera with little time to take pictures. But overall it was fun to take the pictures.
I love the layout of your site! Gray with color is one of my favorite color schemes
I can’t live without Yahoo Mail, You Tube, AIM, Facebook and Wordpress. Seriously. My life would be nothing.
omgoodness your photography is amazinggg!!!
and the church of google is, too. haha.
as for online things i can’t live without, oh there are so many:
del.icio.us, facebook, myspace, google!, gmail, technorati, livejournal
Your photographs look great. :)
The search trends are funny. Google > God. :P Well, I probably can’t function without Google. I think that’s about it. But I love Facebook, del.icio.us, deviantART and Clicky.
The pictures are beautiful!!
Ooo! I didn’t know Google Trends existed! I think I may be distracted by it for awhile.
I think the websites I am addticted to are Google, GMail, Facebook, and my own site of course =P
I love your photos. I think the only sites I couldn’t live without are aol, perezhilton, and abc (I have to be able to watch the episodes of Gray’s that I missed)
Wow, lucy and sky was a good short story. It could definitely be expanded. If you take out “excuses excuses excuses” and “thinking thinking thinking” I think it would be better, though. Your use of repetition was nice, but these two were a little annoying. Sorry if I commented about your writing & you’re insecure about it, but I think you have potential to be a good writer. The story kept my interest to the end!
Reply: Changed it! I’m just much more partial to writing poems than stories, so I’m never confident in my story writing skills. But thanks so much :D.
Whoa, those photos look great! And I know you didn’t want comments on your story, but I just have to say, it’s amazing
Lol @ Church of Google. I think pretty much all the internet services I use are Google products. And I’m guilty of googling ‘Google’ more than ‘God’ :Xtongue:
I just tried using scroll lock, but I don’t think I understand how it works. Everything still scrolled…
wow those photos are great.i am the worst at taking pictures.i am lucky if i can remember to make sure the lid is off the lens lol
